Four Grant Assistance Projects signed in the amount of 949.6 million Yen

The signing ceremony pertaining to two Exchange of Notes (E/N) for Grant Aid, and two Grant Contracts (G/Cs) for Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), were held on 9th March 2020, at the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi.
In this ceremony, the E/Ns and G/Cs were signed between H.E. Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan, and H.E. Maj. Gen. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to Japan.
On the occasion, Ambassador Suzuki expressed the wish that Japan would like to further contribute towards the economic development of Bhutan by meeting various needs of the country, by better combining Grant Aid, GGP, and ODA loan.

1. Grant Aid
(1) “The Project for Improvement of Farm Machinery for Hiring Services of Tillage (Phase 2)”
Counterpart: Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Agriculture Machinery Centre and Farm Machinery Corporation Limited
Total amount of the Grant: 427 million Yen
(2) “The Project for Improving Solid Waste Management”
Counterpart: Gross National Happiness Commission
Total amount of the Grant: 509 million Yen
2. Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP)
(1) “The Project for Provision of Digital Fabrication Equipment – Fabricating Bhutan”
Recipient Organization: Fablab, Bhutan
Total amount of the Grant: 5.3 million Yen
(2) “The Project for Provision of Health Bus to Prevent NCDs and Kidney Disease in Rural Areas”
Recipient Organization: Bhutan Kidney Foundation
Total amount of the Grant: 8.3 million Yen
