The 4th India - Japan Tourism Council

“The 4th India – Japan Tourism Council” was organized by Japan Tourism Agency and Ministry of Tourism of India, at the Ashok Hotel, New Delhi, on April 8th, 2025.
“India – Japan Tourism Council” is a bilateral dialogue on tourism policies between the Government of Japan and India, and tourism-related industries of both countries.
From the Japanese side, in addition to Mr. ONO Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India, leaders of tourism-related organizations, including Mr. HARAIKAWA Naoya, Commissioner, Japan Tourism Agency, Mr. GAMO Atsumi, President, Japan National Tourism Organization, and Mr. EBINA Kuniharu, President, Japanese Association of Travel Agents, participated in this Council. From the Indian side, Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Director General, Ministry of Tourism, and other tourism-related personnels participated, and the two sides discussed challenges and measures to expand bilateral tourism exchange cooperation and inbound and outbound tourists.
H.E. Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism, participated and interacted with the Japanese representatives at the official dinner hosted by Ministry of Tourism of India on the same day.
Ambassador ONO Keiichi delivered his address at the Tourism Council. He mentioned in his remarks that, considering the valuable tourism charms of each country, there are good possibilities for a greater tourist exchange in the future, and both hard and soft tourism infrastructure are needed to be further developed. As the hospitality environment in India as a soft component must also adapt to Japanese requisites including in the viewpoints from food and language, the Japanese Embassy would like to support the Indian hospitality industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of India.
Following the Council, many Japanese delegates joined the familiarization tour organized by the Ministry of Tourism of India, to visit Agra, Old Delhi and Bodh Gaya from 9th to 11th April.
