On October 11, the felicitation ceremony of Prof. Pullattu Abraham George, Former Professor, Centre for Japanese Studies, School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, on receiving the Decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon was hosted.
The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon conferred upon Professor George in recognition of his outstanding achievements in promoting academic exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and India.
Chargés d'Affaires ad interim Ariyoshi noted Prof. George’s several remarkable achievements, including his lecture that was attended by His Imperial Highness, the Emperor of Japan, and Her Majesty the Empress when they visited Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2013, and congratulated Prof. George for his significant contributions to promoting people-to-people exchanges between India and Japan.
Prof. George emphasised the important role of academicians in facilitating people-to-people exchanges and expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of Japan in India and the Japan Foundation for their constant support and his desire to continue contributing to people-to-people exchanges.
