Signing and exchange of note regarding grant aid for the "Human Resource Development Scholarship Program" for India

2024/7/29
On July 29, 2024, in New Delhi, a signing and exchange of note regarding the grant aid "Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship," amounting to a maximum of 220 million yen, was conducted between Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India, and Ms. Manisha Sinha, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, India.

In India, various initiatives, including administrative reforms, are underway. To implement such initiatives smoothly and effectively, there is an urgent need to enhance the administrative capabilities of young administrative officials and foster human resources for the construction and improvement of institutions. This grant aid project aims to support young administrative officials expected to be involved in policymaking at the core of the Indian government in obtaining master's degrees from Japanese graduate schools.

Through this cooperation, it is expected that up to nine young Indian administrative officials in the fiscal year 2025 will acquire specialized knowledge in various fields necessary for solving development issues in Japan and contribute to policy formulation upon their return. Additionally, it is hoped that the human resources developed through this cooperation will enhance mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and India, further strengthening bilateral relations as a "Special Strategic and Global Partnership."
