Foreign Minister Hayashi’s Sympathy Message to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, following the floods and landslides in the State of Assam and the State of Meghalaya in the North East Region of India
On June 23, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, issued the following message of sympathy to H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, on the damages due to the floods and landslides caused by the heavy rain which hit the State of Assam and the State of Meghalaya in the North East Region of India

“I am deeply grieved to have learnt that the heavy rain in the State of Assam and the State of Meghalaya in the North Eastern Region of India have caused floods and landslides, triggering extensive damages to the two states.
I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the victims of the devastating disaster and sympathies to their bereaved families.
I pray for the swift recovery of those who have suffered as well as the earliest possible reconstruction of the affected areas. The Government of Japan always stands with the Government and the people of India, and is ready to provide any assistance it may need.”
