The handover ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment at Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh” under the GGP scheme of the Government of Japan, will be held on June 16, 2022, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, Director, Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society (SHEOWS), the recipient organization of the grant, and Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Minister (Economic and Development), and Mr. Ryuhei Nishi, First Secretary, from the Embassy of Japan in India.
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has supported India’s grassroots projects in various fields such as construction of school buildings, vocational centers, check dams, provision of medical equipment and so on.
This project, which amounts to approximately 7.95 million Japanese Yen, supports the provision of medical equipment and elevators to Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. This project aims to provide quick, affordable, and quality medical services to the underprivileged and left-alone elderly people who have to take care of themselves and are facing medical issues in their old age.
Since its establishment in 1994, Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society is one of the few organizations in the country working for the poor as well as independent elderly people. The organization has two operating facilities, one in Delhi and the other in Uttar Pradesh.
This project will ensure not only nursing but also proper treatment of the underprivileged and independent elderly people in Amroha area and contribute to improving the living environment at Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram (Old Age Home), allowing them to live with dignity.
This provision of medical equipment made possible by the support of Japanese GGP grant will enable the organization to maintain Guru Vishram Vridh Ashram (Old Age Home) and provide two elevators that will ensure safe movement of the resident elderly people. Additionally, around 2,000 elderly people in Garhmukteshwar along with the home residents will be able to receive early detection and treatment of diseases related to eye, liver, kidney, and diabetes through the medical equipment provided by the GGP grant.
The Government of Japan hopes that these projects will contribute to improving the accessibility of medical services and the living environment of the old age home in the project area. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. On this auspicious occasion, we will further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and India.
