This project aims to provide quick, affordable and quality medical services to the underprivileged people with various minor to major health issues.
Since its establishment in 1993, Anchal Charitable Trust has been working on poverty alleviation by working in sectors of health, education, women’s empowerment and so on. Their activities have been highly appreciated by the local community. Now, Anchal Charitable Trust is making efforts to update the medical environment at the hospital by providing quick and quality treatment for the patients at an affordable cost.
This project will ensure early detection and proper treatment of the underprivileged around Ghaziabad area and provide them with accessible and timely treatment.
This provision of medical equipment with the support of Japanese GGP will enable the organization to provide adequate medical services to around 48,000 underprivileged patients per year.
2. The handover ceremony of “The Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment for Maternal and Child Health Care for the Underprivileged, Ashok Vihar, Delhi” under the GGP, will be held on 13th April 2022, in Ashok Vihar, Delhi.
The ceremony will be attended by Sr. Jolly Joseph, President of Jivodaya Hospital, the recipient organization of this grant, and Mr. KAWAZU Kunihiko, Deputy Chief of Mission (D.C.M), from the Embassy of Japan in India.
This project, which amounts to approximately 7.7 Million Japanese Yen, supports the provision of medical equipment for maternal and child health care for the underprivileged people in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. This project aims to provide quick and quality maternal and child health care to the unprivileged sections.
The hospital was established in the year 1980 and has been delivering medical services to a large population of underprivileged people around the area. These medical services are being provided either for free or at a nominal cost along with food and accommodation. The organization also actively conducts various awareness activities related to personal health, hygiene and maternal care in order to raise awareness among the lesser privileged. However, the hospital has been facing challenges of using old and inadequate medical equipment that frequently malfunction. Such a situation handicaps the facility of medical services, especially with an increasing load of patients.
The provision of medical equipment with the support of Japanese GGP will enable the organization to provide adequate medical services to around 5,700 underprivileged mothers and infants, including around 400 childbirth cases per year.
3. The handover ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment for the Rural Underprivileged People, Noida, Uttar Pradesh” under the GGP, will be held on 19th April 2022 in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Sushil Choudhry, Managing Trustee of Ishwar Charitable Trust, the recipient organization of this grant, and Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Minister (Economic and Development), from the Embassy of Japan in India.
This project, which amounts to approximately 7.4 Million Japanese Yen, supports the provision of eye medical equipment for the rural, underprivileged people in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This project aims to provide quick and quality eye medical services to patients from lesser-privileged sections.
Ishwar Charitable Trust, the recipient organization, established an eye care hospital and graduate school in the year 1993 and provides eye care services for free or at nominal costs to the underprivileged locals. Since then, the organization has conducted around 2.39 million eye operations (around 1.75 million cases were conducted free of charge) and treated over 3.2 million cases of ophthalmic patients from rural areas for free. However, due to the high demands, their medical equipment are getting old which impacted accuracy of consultations and efficiency.
The provision of eye medical equipment with the support of Japanese GGP will enable the organization to improve the efficiency and the quality of the medical services to be given to around 22,000 underprivileged eye patients per year.
4. The handover ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment for the Underprivileged in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh” under the GGP will be held on 20th April 2022 in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Sunil Kumar Sharma General Secretary of Kalyanam Karoti, the recipient organization of this grant, and Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Minister (Economic and Development), from the Embassy of Japan in India.
This project, which amounts to approximately 9 Million Japanese Yen, supports the provision of eye medical equipment for the underprivileged people in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. This project aims to provide quick and quality eye medical services to the people from lesser privileged sections.
Kalyanam Karoti, the recipient organization, has been providing eye care services since its establishment in the year 1981 along with ‘on-site eye care services’ to the poor and the elderly in and around Mathura district as a part of their charitable activities. Their activities have been highly appreciated by the local community. The organization has conducted around 740,000 consultations and eye treatments including 125,000 cases of cataract surgery operations free of charge. However, the number of medical equipment is insufficient to meet the current requirements and often the surgery patients are left with no option but to wait for a long period of time without timely medical intervention.
The provision of eye medical equipment with the support of Japanese GGP Grant will enable the organization to improve the efficiency of the medical services and provide better eye medical treatment to around 14,000 patients including around 4,000 of those requiring eye surgeries per year.
5. The handover ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment at Shija Hospital, Imphal West, Manipur” under the GGP, will be held on 27th April 2022 in Imphal West, Manipur.
The ceremony will be attended by Dr. Rajkumar Nimai Singh, President of Shija Foundation, Mr. Suresh Singh Thokchom, Assistant Secretary of Shija Foundation, the recipient organization of this grant, and Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Minister (Economic and Development), from the Embassy of Japan in India.
This project, which amounts to approximately 7.1 Million Japanese Yen, supports the provision of eye medical equipment for eye disease patients and socio-economically vulnerable local people in Imphal West, Manipur. This project aims to provide quick, quality and affordable eye medical services to the locals.
Shija Foundation, the recipient organization, has been providing eye care services since the establishment of Shija Hospitals and Research Centre in the year 1993 in Imphal West, Manipur. In 2019, the organization conducted over 2,000 cataract and corneal surgeries along with providing successful treatment to children with eye defects and diseases. However, due to the insufficiency of specialized medical equipment required to diagnose and treat serious eye diseases like Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy, the organization had to refer patients who were unable to access the treatment at the hospital to better-equipped hospitals with decent medical facilities in the neighboring state of Assam. Constrained to get the treatment in neighboring state posed an added financial burden and challenges of communicating in a state having a different language to already suffering patients.
The provision of eye medical equipment with the support of Japanese GGP Grant will enable the organization to improve the efficiency and availability of eye medical services even to treat diseases like Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy of around 280 patients annually. Furthermore, patients can get eye care services within their state.
The Government of Japan hopes that these projects will contribute in improving the medical environment in the project areas and enhance the accessibility to medical services for the people in need. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. On this auspicious occasion, we will further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and India.
