3 New Grant Assistance Projects in the amount of 23.66 million Yen signed

The Grant Contracts (G/Cs) relating to 3 projects funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme, namely“The Project for the Provision of Mobile Learning Bus, Dehradun, Uttarakhand”; “The Project for the Construction of Elementary School building in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh”; and, “The Project for Construction of an Institute and an Eye Care Centre for the Blinds, Mohali, Panjab”, were signed on 10th March 2022.
The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme called “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” for development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries. Since 1989, the scheme has been supporting relatively small-scaled projects implemented by non-profit organizations, such as, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and educational and medical institutions, through Japanese diplomatic missions in developing countries.
In the ceremony, the G/Cs were signed and exchanged between H.E. Mr. SUZUKI Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India, and the representatives of the respective recipient organizations.
The total amount to be disbursed for the abovementioned three projects is around 23.66 million Yen. Brief details of each project are as follows:
(1) “The Project for the provision of Mobile Learning Bus, Dehradun, Uttarakhand”
Recipient Organization: AASRAA Trust
Total amount of the Grant: 6.53 million Yen
(2) “The Project for the construction of Elementary school building in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh”
Recipient Organization: Asha Deep Foundation
Total amount of the Grant: 7.38 million Yen
(3) “The Project for Construction of an Institute and an Eye Care Centre for the Blinds, Mohali, Punjab”
Recipient Organization: National Association for the Blind
Total amount of the Grant: 9.75 million Yen
The Government of Japan hopes that this new grant project will help to reinforce the quality of living and human security of the people in India and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Japan and India.
