Ambassador Suzuki visits Meghalaya: Remarks at “Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2021”

1. Ambassador Suzuki delivered his remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of “Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2021” on 25th November during his visit to Meghalaya from 24th to 26th November.
2. “Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival” is organized by the State Government of Meghalaya at the bloom of cherry blossom every year since 2016 except last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Suzuki and Honorable Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mr. Conrad Sangma delivered their remarks. Ambassador Suzuki mentioned the importance of people-to-people exchange, the Japan-India cooperation such as in enhancing the connectivity in the northeastern region of India, and further developing friendly relations with Meghalaya toward the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Japan and India next year. 3. Ambassador Suzuki and Honorable Chief Minister Sangma had a lively discussion on strengthening our cooperation on issues such as connectivity and investment.
4. During his visit to Meghalaya, Ambassador Suzuki visited the medical oxygen generation plant at the Nongpoh Civil Hospital which was provided by the Government of Japan through UNDP India.
