4 New Contracts funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects scheme were signed

The Grant Contracts (G/Cs) relating to 4 projects funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme, namely, “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment at Anchal Charitable Trust, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh,” “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh,” “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment at Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh,” and “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment at Shija Hospital, Imphal West, Manipur” were signed on 30th March 2021, between H.E. Mr. Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to India, and the representatives of the respective recipient organizations.
The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme called “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” for development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries. Since 1989, the scheme has been supporting relatively small-scaled projects implemented by non-profit organizations, such as, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and educational and medical institutions, through Japanese diplomatic missions in developing countries.
The total amount to be disbursed for the abovementioned four projects is around 29.30 million Yen. Brief details of each project are as follows:
(1) “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment at Anchal Charitable Trust, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh” (Recipient Organization: Anchal Charitable Trust)
This project, the amount of which totals around 7.4 million Yen, will support the purchase of new medical equipment for the socially vulnerable people in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
(2) “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh” (Recipient Organization: Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital)
This project, the amount of which totals around 6.8 million Yen, will support the purchase of new eye medical equipment for people in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
(3) “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment at Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh” (Recipient Organization: Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society - SHEOWS)
This project, the amount of which totals around 7.95 million Yen, will support the purchase of new medical equipment for the solitary elderly in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.
(4) “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment at Shija Hospital, Imphal West, Manipur” (Recipient Organization: Shija Foundation)
This project, the amount of which totals around 7.2 million Yen, will support the purchase of new eye medical equipment for people in Imphal West, Manipur.
The Government of Japan hopes that these 4 grants will help improve the lives of people in the project areas, and further strengthen the friendly relationship and cooperation between Japan and India.
