The MoC in the Field of ICT between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and the Ministry of Communications of Republic of India

On 15th January, H.E. Mr. TAKEDA Ryota, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and H.E. Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications of India held a video conference and discussed issues related to Information and Communication Technologies. The Ministers signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Information and Communication Technologies between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan and the Ministry of Communications of Republic of India”. This is the first comprehensive MoC signed by both the Ministries. Ambassador SUZUKI Satoshi of Japan and Ambassador Sanjay Kumar Verma of India also attended the meeting.
 
The MoC covers issues related to ICT, such as the development of technologies related to 5G and submarine cables, Telecom Security including relevant human resources development, the promotion of dialogues between the two industries.

The MoC is expected to elevate the mutual cooperation in the field of ICT between Japan and India to the next level at a time when ICT is increasingly recognized as key for socio-economic activities in the post COVID-19 era.
