Ambassador Hiramatsu attended the 75th Anniversary Event of the Battle of Imphal and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Imphal Peace Museum

On 22 June, Ambassador Hiramatsu attended the 75th Anniversary Event of the Battle of Imphal. Ahead of this event, the Ambassador prayed for the fallen souls at the India Peace Memorial, the Imphal War Cemetry and other places of significance. He also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Imphal Peace Memorial founded with the support of the Nippon Foundation.
 
Shri Biren Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Sir Dominique Asquith, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom, and Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Chariman of the Nippon Foundation were among the dignitaries to attend these events. The day proved to be significant in terms of the reconciliation among the Japanese, Manipuri and British people.
