2018/8/6
On 6th August 2018, the Delhi Metro Rail Project (Phase 3) comprising the section of Pink Line between Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus and Lajpat Nagar (8.1 km), with 6 stations, was inaugurated. This illustrates Japan’s active support for the Delhi Metro through Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans as well as Japanese railway technologies and safety management.
The Japanese principles of railway safety management and project management are being implemented in this newly-inaugurated section of Delhi Metro, with Oriental Consultants as the project management consultant. In addition, Japanese technologies and quality control values are also being applied to this section. Mitsubishi Electric is supplying the propulsion system for the rolling stocks, and Mitsui & Co. has been roped in for rail procurement.
Ambassador Hiramatsu celebrated the inauguration of this section at the inauguration ceremony, along with H.E. Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of State, Housing and Urban Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi. (Text of Ambassador Hiramatsu’s remarks at the ceremony is here.)
