Mr. Miyakoshi participated in the opening ceremony of the food event called AAHAR, which was held from 13 March to 17 March in New Delhi, and also inaugurated the Japanese Pavilion and encouraged the Japanese companies participating in the event. He also delivered a speech at the Japanese food seminar jointly organized by JETRO and CII to promote Japanese cuisine. Mr. Miyakoshi also had meetings with H.E. Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and H.E. Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Minister of Food Processing Industries.
During the visit of Mr. Miyakoshi, Japan and India agreed upon the format of Sanitary Certificate covering fish and fishery products for export from Japan to India, which enables exports of fishery products from Japan to India.
Also, Japan and India agreed to promote cooperation in the field of food safety, particularly with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India), which regulates food quarantine and labeling related matters in India.
Furthermore, as a part of the follow-up to World Food India, held in November 2017, in which Japan participated as a Partner Country, a MOU was signed between a Japanese food company and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries of India.
Agriculture and Food Processing sectors are of high priority to the Government of Prime Minister Modi, and therefore, Japan seeks to further deepen and strengthen its cooperation with India in this important field.
