World Food India 2017: Japan

From 3 to 5 November, “World Food India 2017” was held in New Delhi. Japan participated in this mega food event as a Partner Country. Along with State Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, Mr. Taniai, who led the government delegation, about 60 Japanese companies showcased their products at the event.

On 2 November, Ambassador Hiramatsu hosted a reception at his residence for food-related companies and businesses on the occasion of World Food India 2017. 11 Japanese companies participating in the “World Food India 2017” exhibited their products at the reception. Guests enjoyed meeting new people and establishing new networks, filling their stomach with delicious Japanese food and drinks.

On 3 November, Prime Minister Modi paid a visit to the Japan Pavilion accompanied by Ms. Badal, Minister for Food Processing Industries, where they were escorted around the pavilion by Ambassador Hiramatsu. State Minister Taniai, who just arrived in India, met Minister Badal and also made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Modi. Later, State Minister Taniai and Ambassador Hiramatsu attended the Japan Session, in which many Japanese companies made presentations to introduce their high-technologies.

During the three-days of the event, many people visited the Japan Pavilion and showed their strong interest by posing many questions to the exhibiting companies on their food processing technologies as well as Japanese food products.

On 5 November, at the Valedictory Session, it was announced that the next edition of World Food India would be held in 2019.
