Japanese style UNDOKAI comes to India!

2017/4/18
On April 15, Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Delhi Cantonment, experienced a Japanese style UNDOKAI (sports day event).

This event was planned and organized by the Japan Sports Communications, as a commemorative event of the 2017 India-Japan Friendship Exchange Year. Ambassador Hiramatsu joined them and made his remarks to encourage the participants at the inauguration ceremony.

During UNDOKAI, students competed against each other at games such as Big Ball Sending, Long Rope Jumping, Beach Flag and Relay competitions. All the participants enjoyed playing these games in spite of the hot weather in Delhi.

UNDOKAI represents one of Japanese school cultures and it is useful to convey the element of fun in sports. Actually, this event is also supported by ‘Sport for Tomorrow’, which the Government of Japan is conducting to promote the value of sports, especially among younger generations. We hope UNDOKAI connects Japan and India and helps in cultivating their mutual understanding.
