Ikebana is a Japanese art of flower arrangement developed in the 15th century. It follows a rigidly fixed pattern – a triangle of three points representing Heaven, Earth and Man. Emphasis is placed on linear perfection, colour harmony, space and form. Ikebana is presently practiced by millions of students across the globe and the most popular styles are the Ikenobo, Sogetsu, and Ohara.
In New Delhi also Ikebana-lovers have been practicing the art for many years. Ikebana International, Delhi Chapter celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2006 with the attendance of Hon’ble Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, wife of Dr. Manmohan Singh. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, New Delhi.
