Ambassador's Message

2024/11/28

On October 23, I assumed the post of Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bhutan. With your support, I am committed to strengthening Japan-Bhutan relations.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Japan and Bhutan have enjoyed active high-level exchanges, including those between the Imperial and Royal Families. The most recent visits to Bhutan at the ministerial level as well as by Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko of Mikasa in March 2024 have further deepened the bonds of friendship and goodwill between Japan and Bhutan.

The foundation of Japan-Bhutan relations dates back to the pioneering work of the late Mr. Kyoji Nishioka in promoting agriculture. This partnership has since developed through economic cooperation, such as infrastructure development, and today encompasses a wide range of fields, including international cooperation and cultural exchange.

We will continue to make efforts to expand human and cultural exchange between Japan and Bhutan through such initiatives as the Japan Week 2024, to be held in November this year.

We at the Embassy will continue to do our best to further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Bhutan, and to provide useful services to Japanese residents in Bhutan.   I look forward to working together with you to develop further Japan-Bhutan relations.

November 2024
Ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Bhutan
