2019/11/5
The handover ceremony of the ‘Project for Provision of Equipment for National Mushroom Centre’ under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme, will be held on 15th November 2019, at Thimphu, Bhutan.
The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Dawa Penjor, Program Director of the National Mushroom Centre, representing the recipient organization of this grant, as well as Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Minister (Economic & Development), from the Embassy of Japan.
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has been supporting Bhutan in various projects, such as construction of bridges, as well as provision of fire engines and compactor trucks.
This project, with funding assistance amounting to 8.4 million Yen, aims to provide new equipment to cultivate and distribute the mushroom spawn in Bhutan.
The Government of Japan hopes that this project will promote the development of mushroom cultivation in Bhutan through cultivation and distribution of the good quality mushroom spawn produced by new equipment. The Government of Japan looks forward to further developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
