General Grant Aid Assistance for Bhutan - Handover ceremony for ‘The Project for the Construction of Disaster-Resilient Emergency Mobile Network’

On 29th June 2019, the handover ceremony for ‘The Project for the Construction of Disaster-Resilient Emergency Mobile Network’ will be held in Bumthang.
 
Mr. Fumitaka Fujiwara, First Secretary, from the Embassy of Japan, will attend the ceremony on behalf of the Government of Japan, while H.E. Mr. Lyonpo Karma Donnen Wangdi, Minister of Information and Communication of Bhutan, will also join this event.
 
The project, amounting to a total of 979 million Yen, supports the securing of a stable Mobile Network not only in ordinary times but also during the occurrence of disasters in Bhutan, through construction of a backup system in Bumthang, which covers the entire nation.
 
This project will lead to enhancing the living standards while advancing socio-economic activities in Bhutan by strengthening the natural disaster management system, and contribute towards further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bhutan.
