WAW! Tokyo 2016 : H.E. Mrs. Dorji Choden, Minister for Works and Human Settlement/Chairperson of National Commission for Women and Children, Bhutan, attended

After the successful conclusion of WAW!2014 and WAW!2015, the Government of Japan hosted once again "The World Assembly for Women in Tokyo: WAW! 2016" on 13-14 December, 2016. This symposium is one of the efforts to achieve 'A Society where Women Shine', which continues to be amongst the priority issues of the Abe Administration. Among many leading figures from all over the world who attended the conference, H.E. Mrs. Dorji Choden, Minister for Works and Human Settlement/Chairperson of National Commission for Women and Children, Bhutan, attended the WAW! as a first time guest from the Kingdom of Bhutan, and concluded it successfully with her closing remarks on 14 December.

During the visit to Japan, H.E. Mrs. Dorji Choden exchanged views with Mr. Katsunobu Kato, Minister in charge of Women’s Empowerment as well as Minister of State for Gender Equality, on various women’s issues, and with Mr. Hisayuki Fujii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, on infrastructure development. She also visited the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line and the Jyonan Vocational Skill Development Centre.
