“The Project for the provision of medical equipment and a medical van for the early detection of cervical cancer in women in far flung areas of Bhutan”
Recipient Organization: Bhutan Cancer Society
Total amount of the Grant: 9.36 million Yen

This project, which totals around 9.36 million Yen, will support the purchase of a medical vehicle and medical equipment for the early detection of cervical cancer and encouraging early medical treatment.

The Bhutan Cancer Society provides financial support for travel expenses to women who wish to have cervical cancer screenings but cannot arrange transportation by their own funds. Also, they get involved in a cervical cancer eradication project led by the Ministry of Health of Bhutan as an implementation partner.

This project will improve access to medical services in far flung areas where women missed opportunities to take cervical cancer screenings and contribute to the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer, and reduce the mortality rate.

The Government of Japan hopes that this new grant project will help to reinforce the quality of living and human security of the people in Bhutan, by improving social and economic empowerment of the people, and further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bhutan.
