Attendance of Ambassador SUZUKI Hiroshi for the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Royal Centre for Infectious Diseases

On February 19, Mr. Hiroshi SUZUKI, Ambassador of Japan to Bhutan, attended a groundbreaking ceremony of Royal Centre for Infectious Diseases. Representing the Bhutanese government, Her Excellency Lyonpo Dechen Wangmo, Ministry of Health, attended the ceremony.
Details of the project are as follows:
“The Project for the Construction of Royal Centre for Infectious Diseases”
Maximum Amount: 2.994 billion yen
This project aims to facilitate the development of medical infrastructure through the construction of hospital wards and provision of the medical equipment. The RCID is also expected to function as a hub for development of human resources in the field of infectious diseases in order to contribute towards further improvement of protection measures against infectious diseases like multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
We believe that the completed center will serve as the core of Bhutan’s medical development related to infectious diseases providing long-lasting benefits to the Bhutanese people and improving the country’s health care service environment.
