Announcement of JAPAN WEEK in BHUTAN 2022

In order to celebrate the Exchange Year of Friendly Relations between Japan and Bhutan, the Embassy of Japan, Japan Foundation New Delhi, and JICA Bhutan Office will jointly organise the “JAPAN WEEK in Bhutan 2022” from October 15, 2022 in Bhutan, in cooperation with the Royal Government of Bhutan.

The Opening Ceremony of the JAPAN WEEK will take place on October 15. On the first day, you will enjoy attractive booth set up by the JICA Bhutan office, and also enjoy seeing exciting activities such as Karate Demonstration by the Bhutan Karate Association, Judo Demonstration by the Bhutan Judo Association and a video performance of Japanese traditional instruments which will surely leave you spellbound!


The next day, on October 16, we will present “Mini Japan Anime Film Festival,” which will feature animation films directed by Makoto SHINKAI, who is a well-known Japanese director, animator, cinematographer and manga artist.​ Come to the film festival and enjoy watching popular films such as “The Garden of Words” (2013/46min), “5 Centimeters per Second” (2007/63min), “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” (2004/91min) and “Children Who Chase Lost Voices” (2011/116min).

You can also explore Japanese culture and language through workshops being organized by the Japan Foundation New Delhi at some schools in Thimphu on October 17 and 18.
