Grant Aid Assistance for Bhutan – Handover ceremony of ‘The Project for Improvement of Farm Machinery for Hiring Services of Tillage (Phase 2)’
On 25th March 2022, a handover ceremony for ‘The Project for Improvement of Farm Machinery for Hiring Services of Tillage (Phase 2)’ financed by Japan’s grant assistance was held in Paro.
H.E Mr. Yeshey Penjor, Minister of Agriculture and Forests, the Royal Government of Bhutan, attended the ceremony, while Mr. MIYAMOTO Shingo, Economic Minister of the Embassy of Japan to Bhutan attended this event virtually.
This project aims to improve farmers' accessibility to agricultural machines which are necessary for hiring services of tillage by providing Bhutan with agricultural machines. Today, 400 agricultural machines, such as power tillers and tractors, amounting to a total of 427 million Yen, were handed over to agriculture machinery centers and farm machinery corporations in Bhutan.
These agricultural machines will be utilized for hiring services of tillage in Bhutan. It is hoped that this assistance will lead to improving agricultural productivity which is indispensable for the food security of the country.
Japan will continue to extend its assistance in the economic development of Bhutan by effectively combining various ODA schemes.
