Handover Ceremony of ‘Project for Provision of Patrol Cars to Community Police Centers in Bhutan

2020/2/20

The handover ceremony of the ‘Project for Provision of Patrol Cars to Community Police Centers in Trongsa and Mongar’ under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme, will be held on 29th February 2020, at Mongar, Bhutan.

The ceremony will be attended by Colonel Ninda Wangdi, Additional Chief of Police, Royal Bhutan Police, representing the recipient organization of this grant, as well as Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Minister (Economic & Development), from the Embassy of Japan.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has been supporting Bhutan in various projects, such as construction of bridges, as well as provision of fire engines and compactor trucks.

This project, with funding assistance amounting to 7.8 million Yen, aims to provide two patrol cars to Royal Bhutan Police, which will be used at Langthel Community Police Center (CPC) in Trongsa, and Yadi CPC, in Mongar.

The Government of Japan hopes that this project, under the GGP Scheme, will improve policing operations, especially in remote areas in Trongsa and Mongar districts, where the two patrol cars will be deployed, and assure the safety of people in the project areas. The Government of Japan looks forward to further developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
