Teacher Training program under Japanese Government Scholarship 2014


The Government of Japan (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) will offer the Teacher Training program for the year 2014, one of the scholarship programs for conducting research on school education at Japanese universities.

The Teacher Training program is of a maximum 18 months duration (including first 6 months for Japanese language training) from October 2014 to March 2016. The duration of the program depends on host university’s training course. Participants will be awarded a certificate after successful completion of the specified course of the host university.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, candidates must be below 35 years of age with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in primary and secondary schools.

The scholarship benefits are: free tuition fees, monthly stipend (143,000 Japanese Yen (which is approximately Rs 84,000) per month for 2013 program) and one return air ticket.

Those who are eligible and willing to join this program are invited to submit applications. The application form and guidelines of the scholarship are available on the website of the Embassy of Japan at the URL:

The deadline for submitting the applications is 3 March 2014. Applications can be submitted either to the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, Consulates General of Japan in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, or Consulate of Japan in Bangalore.
