Ambassador Hiramatsu’s Visit to Chennai

From the 14th through the 16th of July, Ambassador Hiramatsu visited Tamil Nadu, to attend the trilateral joint naval exercise, ‘Malabar 2017’.
On 14 July, Ambassador Hiramatsu made a courtesy call on His Excellency the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The state capital, Chennai, is one of the three partners in Japan’s cooperation towards the Smart City Initiatives launched by the Government of India. On this occasion, Ambassador Hiramatsu described the ongoing and planned activities to be undertaken in the framework, with slides.
Mr. Palaniswami, in return, expressed his appreciation for Japan’s development cooperation projects in Tamil Nadu, especially the Chennai Metro.
