On August 19, Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, issued the following message of condolences to H.E. Ms. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, following the damages caused by widespread heavy rain which has hit southern states of India, including Kerala.
“I am deeply grieved to have learnt that there have been serious damages due to the widespread heavy rain which hit mainly the State of Karala.
The Government of Japan stands by the Government of India and the People of India, and is ready to provide any assistance when needed by Indians.
I express my heartfelt condolences to the victims of the catastrophe and their families, and pray from the bottom of my heart for the earliest recovery for those who have been afflicted.”
