The
following message was conveyed on August 26, 2003,
from the Foreign Minister of Japan, Ms. Yoriko
Kawaguchi, to the Indian Foreign Minister, Mr.
Yashwant Sinha, regarding the terrorist attacks
in Mumbai on 25 August:
Excellency,
I
was deeply shocked by the brutal terrorist attacks
on August 25 in Mumbai which victimized many
innocent civilians. The
Government of Japan strongly denounces these
terrorist attacks, and reaffirms its resolute
condemnation against terrorism in all its forms
and manifestations.
On
behalf of the Government and the people of Japan,
I would like to extend my deepest condolences
and sympathy to the bereaved families and the
people of India, and my heartfelt sympathy to
those injured.
