The revision of Maximum Residue Level of shrimp
● The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan amended the regulation in alignment with the new Maximum Residue Level (MRL) of ethoxyquin for crustaceans including shrimp on 21st January 2014. The new MRL entered into force on the same day.
● The new MRL of ethoxyquin for crustaceans including shrimp is now set at 0.2 ppm as compared to the previous level of 0.01ppm.
● Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh appreciated the relaxation of MRL, as indicated in the Japan-India Joint Statement signed by the prime ministers of both countries on 25 January, 2014, in New Delhi.
