The Japan-India Friendship Year 2007 was jointly
launched by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India
and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, at a function
held in Tokyo, on 14 December 2006, to mark the fiftieth
anniversary of the Cultural Agreement between Japan
and India.

On the occasion, the two Prime Ministers also jointly
issued the official logo mark for the Japan-India
Friendship Year 2007 (copy attached herewith).

At the same time, Prime Minister Singh also declared
open the Festival of India in Japan.
