Japan to hand over Fire Trucks to Lhuntse and Pemagatshel, Bhutan,
under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects


1. The Government of Japan hands over two secondhand Japanese fire tracks to Fire Service Division, Royal Bhutan Police, through the Project for Supply of the Fire Trucks in Lhuntse and Pemagatshel, under the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), totaling US$ 21,306 (approximately equivalent to Nu. 12.9 lacs). Ms. Mayu Hagiwara, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan, attends the handing over ceremony of the project which is taking place in Thimphu on 4th November, 2013.

2. Under this project, two fire trucks will be provided to the districts of Lhuntse and Pemagatshel, with the support of Japan Firefighters Association. Provision of these fire trucks will help improve the fire service in the two districts.

3. The Government of Japan hopes that this grant assistance will further strengthen the friendship between Bhutan and Japan.
