On 22nd August 2014, Ambassador of Japan to India, Mr. Takeshi Yagi hosted the send-off reception for the Japanese Government (*MEXT) Scholarship students at his residence in New Delhi.
The reception was attended by fourteen Indian students who won the scholarship, alumni of the scholarship, representatives of Japanese companies and universities.
For the year 2014, a total of 101 Indian students have received the MEXT Scholarships. Out of those 101 students, 62 are going to leave for Japan in September or October this year. The other batch began their studies in Japan in April 2014.
These 62 students will join the following programs:
- Research Students (5 students);
A program for doing Research as well as Master’s and Doctoral course
- Research Students (University Recommendation Scheme) (34 students);
Programs in which the Japanese universities directly recommend applicants to the Japanese Government
- Japanese Studies Students (20 students);
A program for college students who are majoring in the Japanese language to develop their language ability or their knowledge regarding the Japanese culture
- Teacher Training Students (1 student);
A program for teachers in elementary and secondary schools
- Young Leaders’ Program (2 students);
A program for future Asian leaders who wish to take one year Master’s degree course in English
