The Embassy of Japan has received numerous condolences and heartfelt messages of sympathy from the Union Government, State Governments, and the people of India, and from the Diplomatic Missions of various countries in New Delhi, since the occurrence of the earthquake on 11th March 2011.
The Embassy is truly grateful to receive a letter of sympathy with offer of assistance from the Indian Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Manmohan Singh, to the Japanese Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Naoto Kan. Also, Indian Foreign Secretary, H.E. Mrs. Nirupama Rao, spoke to H.E. Mr. Akitaka Saiki, Ambassador of Japan to India, conveying heartfelt sympathies and condolences, as well as offer of assistance.
The Government of Japan is devoting all its efforts to search and rescue the people in the affected areas, and to address this unprecedented disaster, under the leadership of Prime Minister Naoto Kan. On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi wishes to express its sincere gratefulness for all these messages and letters of sympathy from the Union Government, State Governments, and the people of India, and from the Diplomatic Missions in New Delhi.
