Japanese Government to hand over Medical Equipments to Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Thimpu, through under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project

1. The Government of Japan will hand over Medical Equipments to Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Thimpu, Bhutan through “the project for improvement for the basic service of the Labor Room” under Japanese Grant Assistance Grassroots Projects, amounting to US$ 78,295 grant assistance (approximately equivalent to Nu.38 lacs). Mr. Manabu Suzuki, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, will attend the handing over ceremony at Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital, Thimphu on 8th July, 2010.

2. Under the project, phototherapy machines, infant warmers, CTG machines, hand held fetal dopplers, vacuum sets for delivery ultrasound set will be provided to Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital for safe delivery in Bhutan.

3. The Government of Japan hopes that the basic labour services would be improved and more dependable through this grant assistance, and also wishes to contribute to the development of medical services in Bhutan.
