1. The Government of Japan will hand over Agricultural Machinery to the Royal Government of Bhutan through “Grant Assistance for Underprivileged Farmers (2KR)” and “Non-Project Grant Aid (NPGA)”, in total amounting to 380 million yen grant assistance (approximately 3.8 million US dollars). Mr. Manabu Suzuki, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, will attend the handing over ceremony at Namgay Heritage Hotel, Thimphu, on 8th July, 2010.
2. Under these projects, 182 Rotary Power Tillers and Attachments, 77 Rice transplanting machines, 30 tractors, ploughs for tractors, spare parts, etc., will be provided to Agricultural Machinery Centre (AMC) for further delivery to farmers in Bhutan.
3. The Government of Japan hopes that this grant assistance would help the development of agriculture in Bhutan, especially rural areas and underprivileged farmers, and also contribute to the development of Bhutanese economy and social activities.
