Government of Japan extends ¥ 161 million Grant Assistance to Bhutan for the Project for Replacement of Ambulances


The Government of Japan agreed today to extend a grant assistance of 161 million yen (approximately 1.9 million US dollars) to the Royal Government of Bhutan for “the Project for Replacement of Ambulances”. The Exchange of Notes to formalize the execution of the grant assistance was conducted between H.E. Mr. Hideaki Domichi, Ambassador of Japan to Kingdom of Bhutan and H.E. Mr. Vetsop Namgyel, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Japan.

The Government of Japan will provide new equipped ambulances (expected 26 ambulances) to Bhutan in order to support efforts of the Royal Government of Bhutan to expand ambulance services throughout Bhutan which are urgently needed to save the lives of the patients and to improve the health care services in the country.

The Government of Japan hopes that the grant assistance would help the development of Bhutan as envisaged in the 10th Five Year Plan, and will also contribute to further strengthening of the relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
