NEW DELHI: 2 March 2012
1. The Government of Japan will hand over twenty six ambulances to the Royal Government of Bhutan through “the Project for Replacement of Ambulances" totaling 161 million Yen (approximately 1.9 million US dollars) grant assistance. H. E. Lyonpo Zangley Dukupa, Minister of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan, and Mr. Tamaki Tsukada, Minister, Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, will attend the handing over ceremony of the project in Phuentsholing, on 5 March 2012.
2. The Government of Japan will provide new, fully equipped ambulances to Bhutan in order to support efforts of the Royal Government of Bhutan to expand ambulance services throughout Bhutan, which are urgently needed to save the lives of patients, and to alleviate the situation of pregnant women.
3. . The Government of Japan hopes that the grant assistance would help improve the health care services, and help in the economic development of Bhutan as envisaged in the 10th Five Year Plan, while contributing to further strengthening of the relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
