JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL 

 

Selected works of famous Japanese directors will be presented during the festival. The films explore varied subjects, such as, the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in The Wife of Seishu Hanaoka, the fierce battle between two clans

in The Gate of Hell, the swordsmanship and characteristics of a samurai in The Twilight Samurai, the fusion of jazz and Japanese instrumental music in Dixieland Daimyo, the thieves who become heroes in The Benten Kozo, human tendencies of placing themselves above others in Rashomon, and a samurai’s battle to reinstate the abducted clan chief in Sanjuro.
