|Mr Osamu Suzuki
Mr. Suzuki was born on January 30, 1930, in Gero, Japan and graduated from Chuo University, 1953.
Mr. Suzuki spent 22 years as president and chief executive officer of Suzuki Motor Corporation. During
this time he turned Suzuki into a global powerhouse by producing rugged, low-cost minicars for the
less wealthy but more populated areas of the world, such as India, China, and Eastern Europe. One of
the most successful ventures came in 1982, when Mr Suzuki teamed with India’s government-controlled
manufacturer Maruti Udyog. Known as a fiscally conservative hands-on manager, Suzuki involved
himself in nearly every aspect of the business and was often seen inspecting the company’s plants
personally in search of cost-cutting measures. Suzuki stepped down as president of the company in
2000 but stayed on as chairman.
Mr Suzuki will present Suzuki’s business activities focusing on its manufacturing practices in India.
