JAPAN-INDIA LECTURE SERIES
Japan and India have been enjoying friendly relations since the advent of Buddhism to Japan in the 7th century. Their centuries old relationship witnessed many interesting interactions between the two countries. Importantly, Bodhisena acting as Master of Ceremony at the Consecrating Ceremony of the Great Buddha at the Todaiji Temple in Nara in 752; Hindu Deities rooted in Japanese temples; influence of Sanskrit and Indian literature on Japanese alphabet and literature, adoption/assimilation of Indian dances and music in Bugaku and Gigaku and the friendship between Rabindranath Tagore and Tenshin Okakura, etc. in the modern times.

A lecture series is being organized to explore, analyze, understand and appreciate the relations between Japan and India from ancient times to the present day. Eminent speakers from Japan and India will speak on the following broad themes:
