Embassy in collaboration with Fukuoka Prefecture, the Japan Foundation and India International Centre held FUKUOKA KYUSHU FILM FESTIVAL from 16-19 October 2012 at IIC Auditorium, which was an important event of the 60th Anniversary of Japan-India Diplomatic Relations. The four films screened during the Festival were created by eminent Japanese directors, which won several awards at international film festivals. I Wish (Kiseki) Director: Hirokazu Koreeda, recipient of the Signis Award - Special Mention, Hong Kong International Film Festival 2011; and Award for Best Screenplay, San Sebastian International Film Festival 2011 Glasses (Megane) Director: Naoko Ogigami, recipient of the Manfred Salzgeber Award, Berlin International Film Festival 2008 Sad Vacation Director: Shinji Aoyama, recipient of the Jury Award, at the 2008 New York Asian Film Festival Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad (Tokyo tawa: Okan to boku to, tokidoki, Oton) Director: Joji Matsuoka, recipient of the Japanese Academy Awards 2008 for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; Best Actress in a Leading Role; Best Director; Best Film; and Best Screenplay; and Nikkan Sports Film Award 2007 for Best Supporting Actress The festival got very good response and encouraged by the success, the films were repeated at the Japan Foundation Auditorium. |
