The inauguration ceremony of the ‘Project for Construction of Girls’ Hostel at Chungkha Primary School in Chhukha, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), will be held on 1st February 2019, at Chhukha, Bhutan.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has been supporting Bhutan in various projects, such as construction of bridges, as well as provision of fire engines and compactor trucks.

This project, with funding assistance amounting to 8 million Yen, aims to construct a girls’ hostel with capacity of 60 students, for the Chungkha Primary School at Chhukha.

The Government of Japan hopes that this project, under the GGP Scheme, will ensure enhanced learning opportunities for girl students at Chhukha, through the provision of a good living environment. The Government of Japan looks forward to further developing the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Bhutan.
