Handover Ceremony of ‘Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital’
2019/1/22
The handover ceremony of the ‘Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital’, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), will be held on 31st January 2019, at Thimphu, Bhutan.
The ceremony will be attended by Dr. Tika Ram Adhikari, ENT Specialist, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), the recipient organization of this grant, and relevant officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan, as well as Mr. Kenko Sone, Minister (Economic & Development), from the Embassy of Japan.
The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has been supporting Bhutan in various projects, such as construction of bridges, as well as provision of fire engines and compactor trucks.
This project, with funding assistance amounting to 8 million Yen, aims to provide Polysomnography equipment and Auditory Brain-stem Response equipment for JDWNRH, at Thimphu.
The Government of Japan hopes that this project under the GGP Scheme, through the provision of the medical equipment to check hearing disability and sleep apnea syndrome, will help the Bhutanese patients by providing them with appropriate examination and treatment. The Government of Japan looks forward to further developing the relations of friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bhutan.
