Inauguration of Ahmedabad Metro’s first section between Vastral Gam to Apparel Park of East-West Corridor, supported by the Government of Japan

On 4th March2019, Ahmedabad Metro’s first section between Vastral Gam to Apparel Park of East-West Corridor (6.5 km), with 6 stations, was inaugurated. This illustrates Japan’s active support for Ahmedabad Metro through Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans as well as Japanese railway technologies and safety management.
The Japanese principles of railway safety management and project management are being implemented in this newly-inaugurated Ahmedabad Metro, with Oriental Consultants as the project management consultant. In addition, Japanese technologies and quality control values are also being applied to Ahmedabad Metro. Mitsubishi Electric is supplying the propulsion system for the rolling stocks; Nippon Signal is installing its Automated Fare Collection System and Signalling and Train Control System; and Mitsui & Co. has been roped in for the procurement of rail, which is manufactured by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal.
Ambassador Hiramatsu celebrated the inauguration of Ahmedabad Metro at the inauguration ceremony, along with H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Vijay Rupani, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. Ambassador Hiramatsu has issued his congratulatory message on the inauguration of Ahmedabad Metro.
