The inauguration ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Eye Medical Equipment in Sirohi, Rajasthan”, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), will be held on 6th February 2019, at Sirohi, Rajasthan.

The ceremony will be attended by Dr. Partap Midha, Medical Director and Trustee, Global Hospital & Research Centre, the recipient organization of this grant, Dr. Ravindra Goswami, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mt Abu, and Mr. Kenko Sone, Minister - Economic, from the Embassy of Japan in India.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has supported India in projects such as construction of school buildings, vocational centers, and check dams, as well as provision of medical equipments.

This project, which amounts to a total of approximately 7.8 Million Japanese Yen, supported the purchase of 4 medical equipment, Operating Microscope, Anesthesia Machine, Perimeter, and Non-contact Tonometer, for eye treatment of underprivileged people in the area.

Global Hospital & Research Centre, the recipient organization of this project, established in 1991, has been contributing to the improvement of medical service for the poor and socially disadvantaged people in Rajasthan, by running general hospitals, medical schools, and pharmacies, as well as providing mobile health screening for free of charge. The eye hospital has been facing an acute need to upgrade its equipment for eye treatment, given the increasing number of patients year by year.

This project, through the purchase of new eye equipment, will enable the organization to deliver appropriate eye care for the approximately 47,000 underprivileged people including the approximately 4,500 surgical patients, and facilitate the quality of health and life of people for weaker sections of the society.

The Government of Japan hopes that this project will contribute to improve the medical environment for the people in the project areas, and will further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and India.
