2nd Japan India Food Dialogue

On 21 January, the 2nd Japan-India Food Dialogue was held. Ambassador Hiramatsu had discussion with Secretary Ms. Pushpa Subrahmanyam, and other officials of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, along with 11 leading Japanese food and cold chain companies.
 
In March 2018, Ambassador Hiramatsu and Minister Badal had agreed to hold regular meetings between Embassy of Japan in India and Ministry of Food Processing Industries to promote investments in the field of food processing industries by Japanese food related companies. The first dialogue was held in September 2018.
 
In the second dialogue, the Japanese food and cold chain companies introduced their technologies and had discussion with Indian side in order to establish cold chain in India. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, National Center for Cold Chain Development, Ministry of Commerce, Logistics Division, Ministry of External Affairs and Invest India participated in the dialogue from Indian side.
 
At the dialogue, Indian side paid strong attention to the Japanese technologies and had intensive discussions with them over the matter. Ministry of Food Processing Industries also explained the World Food India 2019, which is the largest food event in India to be held from 1 to 4 November, and requested Japanese companies to participate in the event.
