The 3rd India - Japan Tourism Council & Summit

 “The 3rd India – Japan Tourism Council & Summit” was organized by Japan Tourism Agency and Ministry of Tourism of India, at the Ashok Hotel, New Delhi, on January 11th, 2019.

“India – Japan Tourism Council” is a bilateral dialogue between government of Japan and India on tourism policies, and “India – Japan Tourism Summit” is an event involving participation of tourism-related industries of both countries.

From the Japanese side, in addition to Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu Ambassador of Japan to India, leaders of tourism-related organizations, including Mr. Hiroshi Tabata, Commissioner, Japan Tourism Agency, Mr. Satoshi Seino, President, Japan National Tourism Organization, and Mr. Hiromi Tagawa, Chairman, Japanese Association of Travel Agents, participated in this Council & Summit. From the Indian side, Mr. Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, and other tourism-related personnels participated, and the two sides discussed challenge and measures to expand bilateral tourism exchange.

H.E. Mr. K.J. Alphons, Minister of Tourism, participated and interacted with Japanese delagates at lunch time.

Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu delivered his address at the Tourism Council. He mentioned in his remarks that, considering the valuable tourism resources of each country, there are good possibilities for a greater tourist exchange in the future, and that in order to achieve this goal, it is necessary for both countries to put the results of this meeting into concrete actions. Following the Council & Summit, a reception hosted by JNTO was held at the Taj Mahal Hotel, where a large number of tourism-related people from Japan and India participated and interacted. In addition, many of the Japanese delegates joined the familiarization tour organized by the Ministry of Tourism of India, to visit Assam and Meghalaya States, from 12th to 14th January.
