JET Programme Introductory Sessions held in Delhi
In order to promote the understanding of JET Programme, as well as the lives of JET participants in Japan, two introductory sessions of JET Programme were held on 23rd and 27th February 2018, at Jawaharlal Nehru University and University of Delhi respectively, inviting students who are studying Japanese language.
During the sessions, basic information on the JET Programme including its history, role of the JET Participants, and eligibility criteria, were provided by the Embassy of Japan.
Thereafter, Japanese language advisor of the Japan Foundation New Delhi made a presentation regarding the benefits of JET Programme, besides providing information on Shimane Prefecture, where 2 Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) to be selected will be posted this summer. He said, “Living in a local city in Japan, you can learn its own culture, customs and language, and you can see what you have never seen on the internet”.
Lastly, former JET participants, who have worked as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in Japan, shared their lives and experiences in Japan. They said, “JET Programme is not just a programme for providing work experience in Japan; it’s rather a living experience in a local city with local people, which you can hardly get in any other similar programme.
After the session, the students enjoyed having a discussion with the presenters.
